Prague & Germany

Good morning, sunshine. The earth says “hello!”. Name that film? Anyone? How about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! What an… interesting film to say the least!

I’ve been going through my photo gallery lately on my computer, reminiscing over some memories from living in Nebraska and skiing with the fam jam, and then I came across this album: my Prague & Germany adventure! What better way to share this experience with all of you than right here, right now!

So about a year ago, in March of 2014, I hopped on a plane from Omaha, Nebraska, to Prague, Czech Republic. Not alone, though. I went with about 50 other friends from the youth symphony I was a part of along with many parents and the conductors. We were going to tour Prague and parts of Germany to play their music. We played Dvorak in Prague, who was a beloved composer during his time, as well as Bach at his church in Leipzig, Germany. Musically, it was an amazing experience. I got to play Bach right in front of his grave in the church he conducted in, St. Thomas Church. We played in palaces and massive churches, and there was always a full house.

Apart from the musical experience, I got to be in Europe!! I love Europe. It has so much history and culture and life. In Prague I roamed around a lot, explored alley ways and little shops, as well as climbed a clock tower in the main square. The pastries and food were divine, and it was so full of life! Germany was lovely too. There’s so much history there, from music to the World War and the Holocaust, and fascinating stories and shops and food and music and everything. It was truly a wonderful experience full of memories.

Traveling is a fantastic adventure. It takes some guts and a lot of faith, but once you go I guarantee it’s worth it. I think it’s super important to step outside the culture you live in and immerse yourself in someone else’s culture, because it humbles you and exposes you to things you would never be able to experience otherwise. So take that missions trip, go study abroad, or just go! With careful planning, consideration, and prayer, traveling can truly change your life.
