A year ago I moved into the most amazing house in the whole world. I hardly knew any of the girls I would be living with, but it didn’t even matter because I knew that the house I was moving into was one of rich community. However, I never could have imagined how rich and beautiful community living actually would be. This morning, I was reminded of the gift of community living and how sweet this time of life is where living with friends and sisters is possible, and I wanted to share it with all of you.
These beautiful ladies (plus Zoe!!!) have actually changed my whole life. It’s a little nuts to think I’ve only known most of these women for only a year, because I feel like they’ve been a part of my life since the beginning. Though when you go through literally everything together, it creates a bond so deep and beautiful that no logic can explain it. These women, sisters, and friends have been with me through my absolute worst of times: the tears, breakdowns, stresses, and heartbreaks. Yet they’ve also poured peace, joy, love, kindness, gentleness, patience, and grace abundantly into my life. You’ve profoundly influenced me as a person and a follower of Christ. It’s crazy how God knows exactly what you need, when you need it. He’s an amazing provider and giver of all good gifts, and this house, this community, these sisters, are a grand testament to His character. It’s like a tiny taste of heaven 🙂
So to my Hen House girls, thank you. You’ve forever changed my life for the better. Thank you for all the late night chats, the hugs, the encouragement, the prayers, and your openness to me – the messy, broken human being I am. Thank you for letting me journey in this stage of life with you. It’s an honour and joy. To the women who first started this house three years ago, thank you for being faithful to God’s calling to start this house, and may you be blessed for it. To all the women who have lived here before, you’ve played a huge part in building this beautiful place of love, honesty, and grace. To every person who has ever stepped foot into this house, you are so loved. May you be so blessed today and every day.
Community is such an amazing gift. I was reminded today to never take it for granted, and more generally to be thankful for every good gift from God. I hope this little life snippet encourages you in some way on this glorious day!
